The National Monument

      Today, I am going to tell about the history of  The National Monument. The National Monument is in the centre of Merdeka Square. It is situated between the old Jakarta and the new one. The monument was built in 1961 to remember Indonesia's fight for independence from the Dutch. The monument is 167 metres high and it has 35 kilograms of gold leaf on its stop. The gold leaf looks like a flame - the flame of freedom.

      Visitors can ride in the elevator to just below the flame (115 metres high). From here you can see most of downtown Jakarta, and you can look down on noisy Merdeka Squares (one square kilometre), one of the largest squares in the world. When you come down from the top. You can visit the museum at the bottom of the monument. Here you can see diromas showing Indonesia's history.

THE RULE TO MAKE GIF PICTURE

         To make our work more interesting, gif animation is the most appropriate. With animated images, we can make our work more fun and not boring. And it would be mora fun, if we could create own animations as we want. And this time I will give you some informations about the rule to make gif animation. The rule to make it is really simple. Lets follow my steps below. Please read carefully. 

 1. Prepare a maximum of 10 images (PNG format, JPG, JPEG) in a computer document that you wanted to change to a gif image

2. Visit the site http://gickr.com

3. Click "upload images from you computer"

4. Click the "Browse" and select the image that already you prepared it before.

5. Repeat these steps to enter the picture beyond a maximum of 10 images.

6. At the bottom of the browse files that have been there a few columns. The first column contains the options (SIZE) for adjust the size of your gif images that will be generated later. The second column is the column selection (SPEED) to adjust the speed of access.

7. Click "NEXT"

8 Wait a minute process and will appear gif image of the pictures that we selected earlier, save and animated images have been already to use.

Ragunan

       Today, I am going to tell you about my holiday at Ragunan. on January 30 this year. I went with my family, many kinds of animals that we saw. I thought Ragunan Zoo is better than other zoos in Indonesia. It also the largest one. Ragunan is situated in the suburb of Pasar Minggu, about 16 kilometers south of the city centre. The zoo opens daily from 9 am to 6 pm. Ragunan is not asa crowded as Surabaya's famous zoo.

     I believe that, zoo is a favourite place for children and young people, for a lots of animals and birds. Whenever you feel hungry, there are plenty of food stalls. The food stalls sell typical foods such as Nasi Goreng and Soto Ayam. They also serve iced drinks. I really happy to visit that place; therefore, you must go there to relax your heart.

The Countryside and The City

         I believe life in the countryside is more relaxed than in the city. We wake up in the morning and have a nice breakfast like cassava or other root crops. We live and work on the farm. We do not have to run out of our house and queue to get on a bus. We do not have to fight to get on a crowded bus for an hour. We can relax. We walk out the rice fields and do our work. While we are working we talk to our neighbours. We listen to the latest news from the district so we give our opinion on the latest scandal. We can relax for a while and then start to work again. There is no hurry, if we do not finish the work today, we can finish it tomorrow unlike in the city, which all work must be completed on time. Actually I prefer to live in villages rather than having to stay in town with all the boring activity density.

The History of Bandung City

           Yesterday I had a presentation about history of Bandung city, and today I want tell about it. The city history dates from 1488 when the first reference to Bandung exists. The people lived on the banks of the Cikapundung in north Bandung and on the shores of the Great Lake of Bandung. After the Indonesian Independence in 1945, Bandung was determined as the capital of West Java province. During the 1945-1949  independence struggle against the Dutch when they wanted to reclaim their colonies, Bandung was one of the heaviest battle places. The Dutch military commander set an ultimatum for the Indonesian combatants in Bandung to leave the city. In response, on 24 March 1946, much of the southern part of Bandung was deliberately set alight as the combatants left; an event known as the Bandung Lautan Api or Bandung Sea of Flame.Today’s Bandung is a sprawling city of 2.7 million people and suffers from many of the same problems as other Indonesian cities. The Poor Man and The Rich Man

           Today I want to story about the poor man and the rich man. In a famous village in Jakarta, there was a poor cobbler and a rich businessman were neighbours. The cobbler's house was also his workshop. He sang merrily while mending shoes. He never felt it necessary to should and lock the door and windows of his house. At night he would say his prayers and go to bed. He enjoyed sound sleep all through the night.

        The rich man always saw the merry cobbler. He saw that there was nothing that worried his poor neighbour. But the rich man was full of worries himself. He could neither sing nor smile. He always should and locked each and every door and window of his house at night. He could never sleep peacefully. He was always worried about the safety of his wealth. 

            On day the rich man called the cobbler to his house. So he gives him five thousand rupiahs and said." I don't need this money. Please keep it with you. It's yours."

            At first the cobbler was happy to receive the money. But soon the big amount of money disturbed his peaceful life. For the first time he closed and locked the door and windows of his house. He woke up several time during the night to make sure that the money was safe.

            The next morning the cobbler went to his rich neighbour's house. He said to the rich man,"Sir, please take back your money so that my merry songs and sound sleep can come back to me."

             From this story, I believe that wealth does not always bring happiness for us. I hope this story can  be useful and have good value for those who read it.

The Bear and The Two Friends

          Hasan and Husen were good friends. One day they were passing through a forest. One their way, they saw a bear coming towards them. Hasan ran and climbed up a nearby tree. Husen did not know, the skill of climbing tree. But he had a good mind. He had heard that wild animals do not hurt dead bodies; therefor, he lay down on the ground. He closed his eyes and held back his breath. The bear came to Husen. He sniffed Husen's face. He thought that the man was dead. He went away.

          When the bear was out of sight, Hasan climbed down the tree. He went to Husen and asked, ''What did thee bear tell you into your ear?'' Husen retorted, ''He told me to keep away from a selfish friend like you."

            From this story we can take a lesson that a friend in need is a friend indeed.

The New Year

          The new year is a celebration in which a culture celebrates the end of one year and marked the start of the count next year, and for me a new year is time for our self to reflection of all the mistakes that we have made in the past year and change our attitude to be better than ever. Last night when everyone was busy with their show each. Me and my family prefer to watch television together at home while enjoying gulai kambing that we bought at one of our favorite restaurant. Has become our custom in every celebration of the new year to stay at home and watch television together for a lot of interesting films that aired on television every new year, and last night me and my family was watching a horror film that aired in one of television’s station entitled Kutukan Suster Ngesot and Pocong Kamar Sebelah, the films are very creepy and make the fur back of our neck stand up. We watched till two o’clock in the morning, but that didn’t make us forget to perform our subuh prayer. Hopefully the people who celebrate the new year last night also didn’t forget to perform their subuh prayer.
